Creative Ways to Fundraise?

Readers,

Like many of you, I am an animal lover. Having five cats and one fat little dog currently, and spending quite a lot of time networking for animal rescues and charities on the side, pets are a constant part of my life – and while I know that there is only so much room in any home, there’s still a ton of stuff we can do to help other animals in need.

With that, I’ve been mulling over the idea of doing some sort of fundraising for animal charities. Naturally, as my audience is primarily spanko, the theme of said venture would be somehow tied to spanking.

I’ve thought about setting up a booth at vendor fairs for larger spanko parties, but the logistics of that seemed pretty damn daunting (and costly, which sort of goes against the end purpose).

A spanking raffle, where entrants buy ‘tickets’ for a set amount, with the chance to win a spanking, also occurred.

As has the idea of making custom videos of varying length for donations of varying amounts.

I think all these ideas sound great, but then again I think it’s also a great idea for everyone to just write a check, right now, to their local cause. Barring that, I’m interested in your thoughts and opinions…what do you think would be the best and most effective way to reach spankos for a Good Cause? (Keep in mind that I’m always MORE than happy to give stuff away in pursuit of happiness.)

* It should go without saying, but I’ll say it anyway: Any amount donated would go directly and fully to reputable, non-profit animal charities, and anyone participating may remain completely anonymous.

  1. If you plan to ask for donations to one of your local addresses set a time frame/deadline of when they should be submitted. Whatever the received $ amount consists of can be converted into a grand total of spanks for a lucky volunteer such as Angel. :)

Or if you find a donor has been exceptionally generous with funds that person can choose what implements he or she would love to see used on either themselves or a person of their choice.

    1. Alexis,

I LOVE the converting dollars to spanks idea! We could even hold a vote in advance so that readers could vote on who should be the Lucky Recipient.
      This one’s a keeper!

  2. I think you should sell a limited edition Dana Kane t-shirt. On the back of the shirt would be a silhouette of you (black and white), as seen from the rear, in a seated position with your arm raised and a hairbrush in your hand.

The front of the shirt would be in color and would be you in the same seated position with the hairbrush (except as seen from the front and in photographic quality instead of silhouette). You’d be sporting your typical stern look, but we’d see in your lap a beautiful rescue cat that no longer had matted hair because you were gently using the brush to remove the tangles.

I haven’t figured out the caption on the shirt yet.

    Anyway, I’d buy one :)

    1. BT,

This is not only a great idea, but very touching. You’ve obviously a very good imagination – would you be willing to try your hand at the design?
Email me at danakanespanks@gmail.com and we’ll discuss.

      Thanks so much!

    2. I would certainly buy a shirt like this. I think it would be nice to see a softer, thoughtful expression. The kitty could have a look of contentment or maybe adoration. I really like your idea.

  3. I appreciate and agree with your aim. Like you, I’m a rescuer. I didn’t intend to have my last 8 dogs. They just needed new homes and I was asked. Following extraction of her left upper carnassial tooth and the sudden onset of renal failure, I had to have my greyhound mixed breed euthanized last Thursday, so much of my donations will go there for the next few months. The idea of a raffle sounds promising. I’m selfish enough favor the lure of a possible prize in return for a “ticket.” Since you love to give spankings and a lot of us love to get them, such a prize logically follows.

  4. Cautious,

I’m so sorry to hear about your losing your sweet baby recently. It’s always heartbreaking when they go, but the only other choice is to never have them, never love them and be loved back….I’ll take the pain, no matter how bad it hurts.
Take care of yourself, and thank you for the feedback.

    Hugs,

  5. I would certainly buy a raffle ticket (or tickets). I would also be willing to donate for a custom video. Great ideas for a great cause. I’ll also match any donation I make to your cause with one to my local animal rescue shelter.

I don’t think it’s just coincidence that so many of us ‘spankophiles’ share a love of animals.

    Thanks Dana,

Jeff (owner of 4 cats, 2 dogs)

    1. Jeff,

I *knew* you’d be into this, no matter what the format, because you’re a dedicated animal lover, too.
And I think you’re right, it’s no coincidence that spankos are among some of the most loving and giving of folks, especially when it comes to our furry friends.
      We, in a word, rock.

  6. As it means so much to you, I don’t think it could do any harm at all to offer spankings, or free memberships, or custom videos in exchange for a worthy cause. I think those people that you truly mean something to will get on board, even if they aren’t necessarily animal lovers. I think it’s a great idea, you making yourself the conduit for charity.

I love the limited edition items idea and Alexis’ idea. I also think maybe you could consider bringing cane-iac in on the fun, since it seems they’ll do just about anything for you. Maybe they can participate with making a special implement in your name (… I mean another one, lol) where part of the proceeds go to animal rescue and they help network the idea.

Those of us who are still active on social media can help network, as well.

And I would be more than willing to volunteer for whacks, or a custom video, an unpaid session as a co-bottom… or anything that you needed to help further the cause.

It would definitely be an “interesting” experience to receive a whack per dollar with various implements. Although hopefully, we’d reach a level where it would be impossible for me to endure the whacks myself – in which case, I think Alexis would need to volunteer to be my stand-in! I’m very sure she
would – since she’s ALWAYS volunteering me! ;)

I also think anyone who participates should receive some small reward so that they could feel excited about their efforts. Sometimes people need a little more motivation than just being entirely selfless; and that’s okay in my book so long as it’s beneficial somewhere in the long run.

As an aside, I also think in some way – donating time should count somehow as well, as animals need love and attention as well as money for their upkeep. Having a dog, rabbit and six chinchillas – I truly know the dedication it takes to care for little, dependent beings. Much love and patience is necessary, and may the Universe bless all those who give of themselves to help the helpless.

Well… let’s do this then. Where do we start?

    XO,

    ^i^ Angel ^i^

Also – shout-out to Jeff for his dedication to the cause. That was an awesomely generous proposal on his part.
